*whaps ski*
Gem, Ski was visiting Miral, and I was hoping to hook up with the two of them while I was in the area.

I don't know. Dan and I can be pretty nauseatingly cute when we put our minds to it...

Eris, it is very painful to see someone you love seemingly fall apart and become some "other person". Two of my Great Uncles have Althzeimers and it is heartbreaking to be around these two once bright and lively men. They are mere ghosts of the people they once were. And my Uncle Sam is worst off because he was being taken care of by his wife, who is over 80! She's not fit to take care of him... and now she's worse off because of that. My grandmother gives us updates on them, but it's never anything you want to hear. *gives eris a hug* I hope you can somehow ward sickness off on your mother better than they could with my uncles. *hugs again*

Well, she's nowhere near that bad yet... no Alzhimers, not even close to senile... just forgetful. Gods willing, that's as bad as she'll get. But still, it's hard, riding that line between frustration and fear, you know?

Yeah I understand that very well. When my Uncle Sam started losing his memory it was very odd cause he reverted back to when I was little. It was like his mind stepped into a time machine and went backward. I can't explain it. So, wondering what happened to him made everyone upset and scared for him, but when we found out it was althzeimers it was almost a reliefe until his son went into denial about it. He could not see... and still cannot see, that his dad is not himself. He's over 30 still lives with his parents and doesn't help out with his father. It's the saddest thing in the world to think about, and it still pisses me off.
*hugs again* I hope it's just forgetfulness. I wouldn't wish althzeimers even on a member of my worst enemies family.

Amen to that. When I was growing up, my parents ran a sheltered care facility out of our house. We had two residents who had alzheimers, one who developed it after moving in, and one who was already well into it when she moved in. It's a terrifying disease.
But, all that aside, it really was a nice trip. Walked my ass off, and my feet too. They're just now starting to recover. Mostly.

Did a little of the old "sightseeing" eh? Yeah, I haven't been to D.C. for the educational side since I moved to Maryland... it's weird, actually, cause I really do want to go to the Smithsonian again.
